WHAT ARE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN 2017 PRO V1 AND PRO V1x?
Both golf balls deliver extraordinary distance and the best scoring performance in the game for all golfers. The main differences between Pro V1 and Pro V1x are flight, feel, and spin. Pro V1 has a lower flight than Pro V1x, feels slightly softer than Pro V1x, and spins slightly less than Pro V1x from tee to green.
SHOULD I CHOOSE A GOLF BALL THAT MATCHES MY DRIVER SWING SPEED?
At Titleist, we design golf balls to perform on every shot; to deliver long distance, short game performance, and optimized flight and feel. We have competitive products that are ‘designed for amateur swing speeds’ head to head with our own golf balls. They do not deliver better total performance. We design golf balls to perform on every shot for every golfer. Every player uses a variety of swing speeds throughout their round. Titleist golf balls perform for all swing speeds on all shots.
WHO ARE PRO V1 AND PRO V1x DESIGNED FOR?
Pro V1 and Pro V1x are two distinct golf ball models designed for any golfer seeking to shoot lower scores. They both offer total performance – providing extraordinary distance and superior short game spin and control, with long-lasting durability. The differences are in flight, feel and spin. The new Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls provide golfers with everything they need in a golf ball without having to compromise in any area.
COMPETITORS ARE MAKING CLAIMS THEY ARE BETTER THAN TITLEIST. ARE THEY?
No. We pour more resources into designing and manufacturing the best golf balls in the game for all golfers than any other equipment company. That includes testing competitive golf balls from around the world against our own. We have not found a better performing golf ball than Pro V1 and Pro V1x anywhere. Further, we have not found a more consistent quality golf ball than Pro V1 and Pro V1x anywhere.
CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF MACHINE TESTING AND PLAYER TESTING?
We believe both are important. The best way to objectively compare performance between products in distance, speed, spin, and flight is with robots. They make the same swing every time and do not know which brand or model of golf ball they are hitting. They are not biased in any way. Player testing is important when a golfer is trying to determine which golf ball is right for their game. At Titleist, we recommend comparing golf balls on the golf course, starting at the green and working your way back to the tee, testing both balls side-by-side.
WHAT GOLF BALLS ARE FORMER NIKE PLAYERS TRUSTING AFTER EXITING THE EQUIPMENT BUSINESS?
The overwhelming majority of former Nike golf ball players around the world are now playing a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x. A significant number of these players do so without a contract with Titleist. The Titleist ball count on worldwide tours YTD is 72% - over 7 times larger than the nearest competitor. Our strategy at Titleist remains focused on validation throughout the pyramid of influence by being the most played. We focus on how many, not who. Our ball counts are as strong as ever and we continue to see players choosing to play our golf balls with and without agreements.
